I once heard it said that:
“Hope is a match that ignites your life.”
Well friends, if you think yourself “hopeless” when it comes to DIY, consider yourself about to be ignited. đ
I literally have a DIY so simple, I almost didn’t share it! HOWEVER, I’m convinced that if you can get a little confidence boost from a fun DIY project, then it could, just maybe, spill into other arenas of your No Small Life.
Question 1: Do you have $5 to spare?
Question 2: Do you have 5 mintes to spare?
Conclusion: You have all you need to make No-Sew Curtains.
Ready? Ok, don’t blink, this project will be done before you know it.
Our Laundry Room. It was the last room in the house to get painted. Redoing our Kitchen & our Dining Room, caused us to take out the flooring in the Laundry Room. Aren’t DIY’s just one massive game of domino’s waiting to happen? ANYWAYS, we figured as long as we’re tearing out the flooring, might as well paint and give this neglected room a much needed refresh đ
BUT because we were in the midst of such a massive overhaul with the Kitchen & Dining Room, we did the bare minimum with the intent to update it down the road. “When we have more time.” (ie-one of the biggest lies we’re guilty of telling ourselves ha!) SO, we painted it a happy blue/green color for 2 reasons:
Blue Shamrock by Olympic
1. Because, let’s face it, we could all use a dose of happy when we have the glamorous job of sorting socks and folding underwear.
2. This color worked with the only “oak” left in our 80’s house, BUT would still look ah-mazing once the trim/cabinets goes white, or gray, or something equally awesome that I have yet to discover on Pinterest. Ideas are welcome!
Walls painted: checkâŚand thatâs pretty much it because that room wasnât our focus at the time. Over that last few months we slowly added a couple more things to make it as functional and as updated as possible. The latest mini project is what I want to share with you today.
This DIY is so ridiculously easy, that I almost didnât post it. Itâs embarrassingly simple and really not so much of a DIY post as it is a confidence boost that says, âYes, you go along with that random creative thought you had!â
On a recent trip to Home Goods, I spotted these cloth napkins in the clearance aisle.
Aren’t they fun? Also, they were $5 and I needed them in my life.
Originally, I wanted to turn them into a throw pillow slipcover for my living room, but they werenât quite the right color. SO, I did the next logical thing and turned them into a window valance for my laundry room. ;D
I had a curtain rod already in place from a previous âwindow treatmentâ (i.e. a tablecloth that I folded into submission to create a faux Roman shade). The only thing I had to purchase was a pack of curtain rod clips from Hobby Lobby. Iâm sure somewhere down the line I will recruit my mom to sew these together for me because letâs face it, buttons are the extent of my sewing skills. But for now this made for an instant no-sew fix.
Ready for the easiest âhow-toâ ever?
Basically, you place your clips on the rod. For 4 cloth napkins I used 9 curtain clips. Next, clip the edge of the napkin with your first clip. Now, fold your fabric in half and clip at the base of the fold like this:
Next, grab your 2nd napkin, overlap the edges at the seams, clip together and continue the process for the next two napkins.
AND…You’re done.
Seriously.
See, wasnât that simple?
On the opposite wall my hubby installed a drying rack from Lowe’s which also keeps our laundry baskets out of the way.
To the left of the Washer we have our 4 compartment Laundry Organizer: Darks, Whites, Lights & Dry Cleaning. And just to clarifyâŚit doesnât always look like this.
I made sure I caught up on my laundry just for you đ
The last little finishing touch for now was one last cloth napkin, (posing as a towel đ )hung over the laundry tub. Smaller different pattern + similar color palette =win!
Thanks for checking out the worldâs easiest DIY. Isn’t it amazing what you can do with $5?!
So, Go forth and buy cloth napkins and let’s just see if that confidence spills over into other areas of your awesome No Small Life.

What a neat idea! Your laundry room looks so thought out. I love the idea of the shelf for the laundry baskets. So much better than scooting them out of the way!
Thanks so much! Yes, I “scooted” for way too long, its nice to have them out of the way now đ
