If you live in a cooler climate, you really only need 2 things in order to look stylish and on trend this Winter.
1. A Cute Coat
2. A Great pair of Boots.
Now of course there will be occasions that you take off your coat, but if you’re out and about on your day off, do you ever even unzip the thing?
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been running errands on my day off and thought, why did I even think about the shirt and accessories I’m wearing. The only thing the majority of the world will see me in today is my coat! 🙂
This fall we talked about 14 new ways to wear a classic fall trend and today we’re talking Winter Coats. Whether your style is classic, trendy, girly or edgy, I’ve got you covered. AND, for under $100 I might add!
What.
So, if you’re needing an update to your winter wardrobe, don’t let lack of funds make you feel frustrated and small, there are LOTS of great options out there!
Here we go:
First up is this Steve Madden Bouclé Fit & Flare Coat. The shape is so flattering. I just love everything about it from the asymmetrical buttons to the over-sized hood. It comes in 4 different colors but this green and grey tweed were my favorites!
Maybe you’re needing a more casual puffer in your life. I mean don’t we all? 😉 This Laundry quilted coat might be just what you’re looking for. It comes in navy and black and I’m kind of digging the navy. With this coats vertical lines and cinched waist, you get the warmth of a puffer without looking like the Michelin Man 🙂
Like a wool coat with a classic pattern? Set your eyes on this baby from ModCloth. Over-sized collar, asymmetric buttons, hounds-tooth. It’s very current without being so trendy that it could go out of style any time soon. It would be amazing with skinny jeans and booties. Ah-ma-zing.
Looking for something with a little more edge? Check out this Mixed Media Kenneth Cole Coat. Combining leather and wool is very on trend right now. Plus, with the notched collar and great zipper detail this coat is sure to up your cool factor a little bit. 😉 It’s a gorgeous piece that will also double as a Matrix costume at your next party. Bonus.
Longer Quilted/Puffer Coat more your speed? Here are a couple of great options. Love this Via Spiga number with its gold double-breasted military buttons. And the honeycomb quilting is so unique!
This Kensie Coat is a little more of a “splurge” at $150, BUT you know it will go on sale after the holidays! Plus, this is going to be one warm coat- down filled, over-sized collar with a hood! It’s like they made it for us mid-west girls. And the great color and belt keep it from venturing into the “everyone else on the planet has this coat” category.
If your winter coat style is a little more classic/elegant, these next few are just for you. And this first one, this is from Target. I know. The Leopard print and fur collar are actually much more versatile than you would think. Of course it can easily go with all your dressy attire, but what about tossing it over a pair of skinny jeans, graphic tee and heels? Whole new level for a mere $55. As if we needed another reason to go to Target.
This camel color wool trench with a fur collar is very Studio 54 don’t you think? Such a fun 70’s vibe. Way to go Kohls.
And if you’re craving for a classic trend lands you a little closer to the 80’s, what about this burgundy number from Forever 21. The bow and the peplum definitely hit a specific style niche, but for under $60, you can afford to play.
If your winters are say, more mild. Number 1, invite me over in say, February and Number 2, check out these next 2 coats. They’re definitely going on my “Spring” wish list.
This Kensie trench has so many details to get giddy over. The fun color, quilting and peplum make it so unique!
This Tinley Road coat from Piperlime is only for those of you brave enough to venture into the land of white coats. I know, scary right? Oh well, the funnel neck, preacher collar and slant zip pockets might just be enough for you not to mind keeping your Dry Cleaner in business. 😉
Last but certainly not least, this coat stole my heart. I’ve always had a not-so-secret love for anything retro. Especially 50’s and this coat, well, I’ll let you judge for yourself.
I know, take a moment. It’s that good.
There you have it all my cold yet stylish friends. We might not be able to control the weather this Winter, BUT we can own how we will brave the cold and face each day….And I’m thinking one of these coats might just make us slightly braver don’t you??? 😉

Outerwear is my weakness! I live in New England, so I have to wear coats and jackets for much of the year, so may as well have a lot of them! 😉 Great finds here.
Ooo, you really needed this post this week huh? Hoping all your snow melts soon, BUT that you can grab a cute coat in the meantime 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by Kat!
The first one is super cute! Living in Florida I have to be picky about coats because it just doesn’t make sense to invest in several of them. Aaaaaand now I’m torn. Ha!
haha, sorry for adding to your dilemma, but aren’t they adorable?!? 😉
