Galatians 5:1 says, “it is for FREEDOM that Christ has set you free!”
In Jesus, you have been set free to live free.
I know.
It’s so beautifully simple.
It doesn’t say that God liberated you from sin and death so you could now strive really really hard to earn His grace & approval. Although that’s still a default of mine even after knowing Jesus for the majority of my life.
But the truest truth of all the truths is:
He cherishes you, treasures you and is “especially fond of you.” #theshack 😉
And right this moment, you have the opportunity to live fully in that empowering freedom because of His lavish, extravagant love for you-the love that will not let you go.
When your life feels small, nothing feels like cause for celebration.
Not even celebrations that include fireworks and living in a free country.
But here’s the deal: your feelings lie to you all the time. And if you’re in Christ, you have every reason to let yourself celebrate today.
You’ve been branded by the love of God and that mark will not go away. So let’s take a big deep inhale of grace and allow gratitude to reset our hearts and restore our faith.
Let’s link arms and boss our feelings around today. Let’s take a day off from “running the world,” and obeying our fickle feelings. Let’s determine to enjoy our people and give ourselves full on permission to enjoy this beautiful long extended weekend.
You won’t get today back.
