When I got married at 20 years old, I thought I knew all the things about relationships. It took me about 3 weeks to realize that I did not.
Marriage is an incredible gift, but one of the main things it offers us is the opening of our little eyes to our own selfishness. And Holy. Cow. was I selfish. Not in an obnoxious obvious sort of way, but in an extremely normal, acceptable way that you never would’ve seen coming when I was single and my life only revolved around me.
But something happens when you bring another person in the intimate aspects of your everyday life; if you’re not making a conscience effort to think about them, it becomes blatantly obvious. Enter our passion for relationships.
It started out as a little bud.
Soon, studying dating during years of youth ministry watered that little bud. Then walking through infertility together, well that dumped a whole load of fertilizer on that thing until it blossomed into something that bubbled up inside of us and couldn’t be ignored.
We love pouring into relationships because we know what it looks like to walk through the great, and the difficult, the thrilling and the messy and every single little adventure that pops up along the way.
So, whether you’re married, engaged, dating, or probably will be in one of those categories someday, we wanted to give you a present today just because we think you’re swell AND we thought it’d be the perfect end to this 6-part series on relationships.
We recorded 4 Podcasts with our great friend Chris Cook, talking all things relationships. And while most of the content (especially in episodes 2 & 3) is centered around romantic relationships, the principles definitely cross over into the other areas of your relational life (family, co-workers, friends etc.)
Here’s what we chatted about:
1. Keys to Having Meaningful Relationships
2. The Science of Romance
3. The Bulletproof Relationship Playbook
4. Healing & Wholeness from Rejection and Shame
Click here to listen to all four 15 min episodes. Just walk through the steps and type in 0 when it asks for the amount, ’cause like I said, we love you guys. But I mean if you WANT to type in $47.95 who am I to stop you 😉 And if you like the content, give it a little twitter/facebook shout out so your friends can like it as well 🙂
For more on relationships from Chris and I, go to mypursuitoflove.com, check out all the other posts in this series. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or hit up our “Relationships” category.
